Red roses, pink frilly garlands, arches of draping flowers now fade in the polluted air, the glitter has fallen and is sooty, washed up in the gutters. The concept of dedicating one day to declare ones love for a significant other is strange enough, but seeing the decorations and advertisements desperately pasted up in the windows of this city is just...surreal. This city doesn't know what love is! And certainly not for a peer-pressure filled day.
I don't mean to sound cynical, but it really is daft. It's just another reason to force expensive chocolate down peoples throats, all for it to be discounted the next day. I used to like it when I was a teenager, I reckon it's more for young folk who have crushes and have cute secrets to keep. Me and Chris agreed that we wouldn't get each other anything but would go for dinner instead which was really very nice. It was a great evening. We ate Turkish cuisine with a couple of glasses of wine and recounted the fond memories of our past and realised we didn't do these sorts of things nearly enough as we should.
Perhaps spring is in the air at last, I do hope so. I do love the winter but I'm looking forward to wearing dresses without tights and having more of the evenings to be productive or social.
I've really been getting into the art stuff lately and it really is a joy to re-connect with that part of my mind again. It seems to be lasting more than a week, which is surprising! I wonder if it does have something to do with the new supplements making their way into my diet, I certainly feel much better. My body doesn't ache like it did, my bones don't 'hurt' like the way they do when you're coming down with the flu. My eyes feel more open. I feel a tiny bit - dare I say - fearless!
I changed around my CV last week and am still to complete the finishing touches, but it does feel good to know I'm tackling it piece by piece. Work isn't dragging me down like it was last month, I mean I still want to be somewhere else but for now at least I can come to work and know what to expect. The people are nice, the product is amazing which I often forget, and it's not so bad working this side of town. Next month is Basel and I'll be going again, which is a real treat. I'm going to make the most of it as best as I can.
